Social Impact Talk: Goodnation

Rob Hansen speaking at Centre for Social Innovation event

“The best way to predict the future is to invent it.” - Alan Kay

We were honored to be one of 5 organizations selected to give a TED-style talk at the Centre for Social Innovation’s Social Impact Gala this summer, which was moderated by Wes Moore, CEO of Robin Hood Foundation, and Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson, Journalist and Producer for 60 Minutes.

At the Gala, Rob Hansen, our Founder and President, had the opportunity to speak to a room full of changemakers about the need for a service like Goodnation and how he came to found the company. He shared a heartbreaking story about speaking to a room full of youth in a workforce development program in the Bronx and telling them that the program had to close. The program was impactful, but they didn’t have the resources it would take to find the funding necessary to continue their mission. He knew generous donors existed and that some would even be excited about this specific program, if only they could find a way to connect.

This is how Goodnation, a solution to this gap, came to be.

Rob continues his talk to explain the impact of real giving; that is, giving that reflects your personal values and the change you wish to see in this world. This kind of giving is nothing but positive for everyone, and we want to help donors and charities experience this.
