These nonprofits are dedicated to uplifting and empowering Black people and other marginalized communities and tackling the issues that disproportionately impact them. The following nonprofits are all either led or co-led by a person of color, and fifty percent are either led or co-led by women.
The nonprofits in the fund work to achieve racial justice and equity through the following strategies:
At Goodnation, one of our core priorities is to bring the knowledge and expertise of professional foundations to individual donors. When granting to a nonprofit whose model and potential for impact has been vetted by experts in the field, you can feel confident that your gift is maximally meaningful.
To put together this particular fund, we looked to two foundations that have built strong reputations for their funding of work that will make our society more just and equitable, and that are led by people of color, whose voices and priorities we feel should be centered in the conversation about how to address issues of racial injustice.
The Ford Foundation's grantmaking is guided by a vision of social justice—a world in which all individuals, communities, and peoples work toward the protection and full expression of their human rights; are active participants in the decisions that affect them; share equitably in the knowledge, wealth, and resources of society; and are free to achieve their full potential.
The Libra Foundation believes society’s systems and structures should foster the human rights innate in every person. Their goal is to deploy all of their resources—knowledge, access, philanthropic resources and investment capital—to build a more just and free society.
We're excited to share that, thanks to generous donors, we've raised over $500,000 so far in support of the Racial Justice Fund. We encourage you to join us in making a gift today!
